VOV.VN - Border guards in the central province of Quang Tri have dismantled a human-smuggling ring that illegally brought 15 Lao nationals into Vietnam in search of employment.

The La Lay International Border Gate Post announced on September 4 that it has initiated criminal proceedings and transferred the case to the provincial police for further investigation.

On August 29, border guards patrolling in A Bung Village intercepted Ho Van Ngheo, 39, transporting two undocumented Lao nationals who had crossed the border illegally. An emergency search of Ngheo's residence uncovered seven more undocumented Lao nationals.

Expanding the investigation, border forces detained Ho Thi Khanh, 30, and Ho Thi A Ut, 37. The three persons admitted to organizing the illegal entry of a total of 15 Lao nationals who planned to find jobs in Ho Chi Minh City.

Border forces are currently tracking down the remaining six Lao nationals involved in the case.
