National information system launched to boost science, technology and innovation
VOV.VN -The Ministry of Science and Technology officially launched the National Information System for Science, Technology, and Innovation at a ceremony on September 11, bringing a vital data infrastructure into operation to serve state management, scientific research, and technological development nationwide.
Accessible at https://sti.gov.vn, the platform is designated as a national shared digital platform under Prime Minister's Decision No. 1132 dated June 24, 2026. The system connects, integrates, manages, and shares data across multiple domains, including science and technology activities; intellectual property; standards, metrology, and quality; high technologies; science and technology enterprises; startup ecosystems; and technology transfer.
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh noted that the system plays a pivotal role in modernizing state governance, accelerating digital transformation, and expanding the sector's data infrastructure. The major goal is to gradually establish a unified, centralized, and interoperable data repository to enhance administrative efficiency, research, and policymaking.
The platform incorporates a statistical data framework comprising 137 sector-specific indicators and 17 national indicators for science and technology, providing an empirical basis for data-driven policy analysis and evaluation.
Key technical features include multidimensional links among research organizations, scientists, research projects, and academic publications, alongside automated synchronization with the ministry’s administrative procedure portal and task management platform. Furthermore, the system tracks citation data and evaluates the quality metrics of Vietnamese scientific journals and research papers.
Regarding connectivity infrastructure, the platform integrates with the National Data Center, supports single sign-on authentication via VNeID, and maintains real-time data sharing readiness with the National Population Database. This seamless interoperability embeds science, technology, and innovation data directly into the national data architecture.
Built on a data-driven foundation, the system serves diverse user groups: regulatory authorities gain advanced monitoring and decision-support tools; researchers obtain streamlined access to expert networks and project data; academic and research institutions secure robust data sources for evaluation; and enterprises navigate technology and transfer options more efficiently.
To date, the platform has consolidated a massive volume of centralized data, spanning research tasks, academic publications, institutional capacities, human resources, and sectoral statistics, alongside millions of synced records from intellectual property, standards-metrology-quality, and high-tech business databases. This milestone establishes a comprehensive informational foundation regarding the nation's scientific and innovative potential.
