Contest launched in France promotes Vietnamese language among children
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Cultural Center in France (CCV), in coordination with Assovie Vietnam, launched the "Tiếng Việt trong tim con" (Vietnamese in My Heart) contest on September 8, 2026, with a view to fostering language proficiency and cultural pride among Vietnamese children across Europe in celebration of Vietnamese Culture Day on November 24.
Open to children aged 6 to 12 of Vietnamese descent residing in France and other European nations, the competition is divided into two distinct categories: Group VN for participants with both parents of Vietnamese nationality, and Group V.EU for those with one Vietnamese parent, while ensuring a fair evaluation framework based on home-language environments.
Contestants must submit a video of up to three minutes, spoken entirely in Vietnamese, featuring their direct appearance and presentation. Participants can choose from three formats: reciting a poem or narrating a children's literary, traditional, or folk story; presenting a traditional dish, custom, or cultural facet; or reading a letter addressed to relatives or to Vietnam itself.
Submissions must adhere to legal standards regarding sovereignty, history, and culture, with parents restricted to technical support and registration roles.
Running until the awards ceremony scheduled for November 21, 2026, the initiative provides an engaging platform for youth to use Vietnamese naturally and confidently, thereby strengthening community bonds and spreading cultural values within the Vietnamese community in Europe.
