VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang has called on the newly inaugurated Bach Mai Hospital’s Ninh Binh Campus to become a model of modern, high-quality health care, emphasising digital transformation, medical excellence and patient-centred services.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on June 26, the Deputy Prime Minister noted the opening of the new campus marks not only the launch of a major healthcare facility but also demonstrates the Government's commitment to improving public health care, making effective use of public investment and building a modern and equitable healthcare system.

He described the hospital’s opening as tangible evidence of the Government's determination to put long-delayed public investment projects into operation for the benefit of the people.

“The inauguration is not simply the opening of a hospital. It reflects our commitment to ensuring that public assets are used efficiently to serve the people,” he said.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the new campus will help ease overcrowding at central-level hospitals while bringing advanced medical services closer to people living in the southern Red River Delta and the North-central region.

He called on the Ministry of Health, Ninh Binh Province and Bach Mai Hospital to work together to develop the new campus into a modern, efficient and sustainable medical institution.

Patient safety and clinical quality, he said, must be the hospital’s highest priorities, supported by professional excellence, medical ethics and a strong sense of responsibility among healthcare workers.

The Deputy Prime Minister also urged Bach Mai Hospital to ensure seamless integration between its Hanoi headquarters (campus 1) and the Ninh Binh campus under the principle of One Hospital, Two Campuses, and One Quality Standard.

He called for greater exchanges of medical specialists, expanded in-person and telemedicine consultations, and integrated health information systems to ensure continuity of care and minimise unnecessary patient transfers.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that digital transformation should become a central pillar of the hospital's development strategy.

He encouraged the hospital to take the lead in deploying electronic medical records, telemedicine services and artificial intelligence applications, while leveraging big data to improve both clinical outcomes and hospital management.

He also emphasised the importance of developing a highly qualified medical workforce by creating a professional, supportive working environment and introducing policies to attract and retain talented doctors and healthcare professionals.

Beyond providing medical services, the Ninh Binh campus is expected to serve as a regional centre for specialist health care, medical training, scientific research and technology transfer, alongside strengthening professional support for lower-level healthcare facilities.

Built on a site of more than 120,000 square meters, Bach Mai Hospital’s Ninh Binh Campus has 1,000 beds, 37 clinical and functional departments, more than 11,000 specialised medical procedures, and a workforce of approximately 1,300 doctors, healthcare professionals and staff.

The hospital provides comprehensive multidisciplinary care in key specialties including emergency and intensive care, cardiology, stroke and neurology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, nephrology and dialysis, endocrinology, hematology, oncology and nuclear medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, diagnostic imaging and laboratory medicine.
