The organisation’s new vision, known as VPS 2.0, is built on three core principles: creating value for the community, promoting a decentralised leadership model, and supporting individuals and teams in creating positive impact.
A key feature of the new model is the establishment of an Advisory Council gathering respected experts and leaders in diplomacy, academia, business and community development to provide strategic guidance for the association’s activities.
Speaking at the recent online launch of VPS 2.0, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung said the vision aligns with the expanding scope of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which is placing growing emphasis on science and technology, high-tech industries, innovation and the digital economy alongside traditional pillars of cooperation.
According to the ambassador, the vision also supports Vietnam’s national development strategy, which places science, technology, innovation and digital transformation at the centre of growth.
The strategy regards overseas Vietnamese professionals as a strategic resource while prioritising stronger global networks of Vietnamese intellectuals and experts to help promote national values and the country’s standing in the international arena.
The launch event attracted nearly 600 participants, including diplomats, scholars, business leaders, technology and healthcare professionals, and community leaders from the US, Vietnam and several other countries.
Alongside efforts to enhance operational capacity, VPS also introduced a series of strategic initiatives focused on leadership development, career mentoring, professional networking, scientific research and innovation.
Another key milestone was VPS’s announcement of the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Innovation Center of Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City to boost cooperation in research, innovation, high-quality human resource development and higher education.
The agreement is expected to expand opportunities for cooperation among students, researchers, businesses and professionals in both countries.
As part of the event, VPS also launched a fundraising campaign to enhance operational capacity, support leadership development and student programmes, expand mentoring initiatives, strengthen professional connections and roll out new programmes aimed at further strengthening Vietnam-US relations.
According to Dr. Huynh The Du, Chair of the VPS Executive Council, the transition to VPS 2.0 is designed to meet the demands of the digital era and deeper global integration.
The smart connectivity ecosystem includes the transformation of traditional operating methods into an integrated knowledge network, optimising the sharing of career, research and startup opportunities between Vietnam and the US, he added
Dr. Huynh The Du said VPS 2.0 will devote its efforts to four core action pillars: developing specialised knowledge networks, promoting innovation and technology application, nurturing and supporting talent, and bringing Vietnamese culture to the world, particularly in the US.
