Vietnamese Government chief arrives in India to attend BRICS Summit
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport in India on September 12, beginning their program to attend the 18th BRICS Summit and conduct bilateral activities from September 12 to 13 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India- the BRICS Chair for 2026.
This is one of Vietnam's important high-level multilateral diplomatic activities in 2026.
Those welcoming Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and his delegation at the airport were Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation Shri Murlidhar Mohol, Vietnamese Ambassador to India concurrently accredited to Nepal and Bhutan Trinh Minh Manh, along with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy.
As a BRICS partner country since June 2025, PM Le Minh Hưng’s attendance at the 18th BRICS Summit in India is of utmost importance.
This is an opportunity for Vietnam to further consolidate and deepen relations with India, the 2026 BRICS Chair, as well as strengthen ties with BRICS member states and partner countries.
Notably, the working trip takes place amid Vietnam-India relations having just been elevated to the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the State visit to India by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam in May 2026.
This serves as an important foundation and driving force for the two countries to continue promoting bilateral relations to become increasingly substantive, profound, and effective, while expanding cooperation within multilateral frameworks.
PM Le Minh Hung is expected to share Vietnam's vision, assessments, and proposals regarding major issues on international cooperation concerning peace, the promotion of economic growth, sustainable development, and the resolution of global challenges during the discussion session on the theme "Building resilient foundations, innovation, cooperation, and sustainable development."
He will affirm Vietnam's message of desiring to work alongside BRICS member states and partner countries as well as the international community to boost new growth drivers, strengthen connectivity and development cooperation, promote the voice and role of emerging economies and developing countries, and strive toward an inclusive, sustainable future of development with development outcomes broadly shared among all people.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese Government leader will also hold a bilateral meeting with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, alongside contacts and meetings with leaders of various countries, international organizations, and local business representatives, thereby contributing to consolidating friendly relations, political trust, substantive and effective cooperation across a variety of fields.
