VOV.VN - Prime Minister Le Minh Hung hosted Singaporean Ambassador Rajpal Singh in Hanoi on August 12, calling for expanded economic mechanisms, an upgraded Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) network, and stronger digital integration.

Congratulating Ambassador Singh on his new assignment, the Vietnamese Government leader expressed confidence that the diplomat will further enhance bilateral relations, building on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in March 2025.

Highlighting trade and investment as core drivers of the relationship, PM Hung proposed prioritizing the upgrade of the VSIP network to reach 30 industrial parks within 2026. He also urged rapid execution of digital identity connectivity between Vietnam's VNeID and Singapore's SingPass systems.

PM Hung emphasized emerging fields in line with both nations' priorities, including offshore wind energy exports to Singapore, carbon credit trading, digital government infrastructure, national data centers, smart cities, and high-tech human resource training.

He assured the Vietnamese Government’s readiness to offer favorable conditions for Singaporean enterprises to invest and operate in Vietnam.

For his part, Ambassador Singh affirmed his nation attaches great importance to cooperation with Vietnam and is ready to support the country during its new development phase under the 2025-2030 Action Plan.

He noted potential for expanded cooperation in second-generation VSIP developments, green energy grid integration, smart cities, international financial center establishment, and increased imports of clean Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products.

Concerning regional cooperation, PM Hung called on Singapore to maintain a strong voice supporting ASEAN's shared stance on the East Sea, promoting a substantive Code of Conduct (COC) in compliance with international law, including UNCLOS 1982.

The two sides agreed to collaborate closely on the upcoming first Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Dialogue, as well as major regional events in 2027, when Singapore assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship and Vietnam hosts APEC.
