VOV.VN - Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung and Executive Acting Secretary-General of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Hagiuda Koichi expressed satisfaction with the positive and substantive development of ties between the two ruling parties and the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

The meeting took place as part of the senior LDP delegation's working visit to Vietnam from July 20 to 23, 2026. At the reception, both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive and substantive development of relations between the CPV and the LDP, as well as the overall Vietnam-Japan bilateral framework.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung congratulated Japan and the LDP on their achievements, noting that following the successful visit to Vietnam by Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae in May, this delegation visit carries great significance for the future growth of party-to-party and state-to-state ties.

Briefing the guest on preparations for the 14th National Congress of the CPV, Vietnam's foreign policy orientation, and its future growth model, FM Trung stressed that amid complex global and regional developments, Vietnam continues to regard Japan as a top-priority partner.

LDP Executive Acting Secretary-General Koichi Hagiuda congratulated Vietnam on the success of the 14th National Party Congress and hailed the new leadership's determination to advance administrative reform, streamline local government organization, and pursue the goal of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045.

Expressing his pleasure at returning to Vietnam three years after his 2023 visit as Chairman of the LDP Policy Research Council, he voiced deep impression with Vietnam's socio-economic achievements and highlighted the effective implementation of cooperation mechanisms based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties in 2015.

Noting substantial potential for future cooperation, Trung proposed that both sides consolidate political trust through high-level contacts, expand ties between party advisory boards, and effectively implement high-level commitments reached during Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's visit in May, particularly in economics, science, technology, and education. He also called for continued coordination and mutual support at regional and international forums.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese diplomat invited Japanese government representatives and local leaders to attend the second Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum in Hue City in early September 2026, and asked Japan to continue creating favorable living and working conditions for the community of 700,000 Vietnamese living in the country.

Agreeing with Trung's proposals, LDP Executive Acting Secretary-General Koichi affirmed he will continue working to beef up substantive cooperation between the LDP and the CPV.

He highlighted priorities in digital transformation, green transition, and energy security, through the effective implementation of Japanese initiatives such as the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) and the Partnership for Offshore Wind Energy and Renewable Resources in Asia (POWERR Asia).
