FM chairs inter-agency meeting on international commitment implementation
VOV.VN - Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung chaired an inter-agency meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Hanoi on August 21 to review and accelerate the implementation of international commitments and agreements.
Those in attendance were leaders and representatives from central ministries, sectors, agencies, the Hanoi People’s Committee, and functional units under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Delegates emphasized the political significance and urgency of monitoring and fast-track implementation. They affirmed a decisive shift from signing agreements to ensuring effective execution, bridging the gap between pledges and practical results to turn international commitments into practical resources for national development.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of nearly 30 key international commitments, agreements, and major projects of significant importance to the country’s socio-economic development. While many have made positive progress, representatives proposed concrete solutions to remove remaining bottlenecks in delayed projects.
Enhancements in inter-agency coordination were also recognized. Review mechanisms are becoming institutionalized, with agencies actively updating data on the digital tracking system for international commitments and agreements. Information sharing and operational coordination among bodies have also grown more cohesive and substantive.
Agencies agreed to further strengthen collaboration with clearly defined responsibilities to prevent overlap, enhance report quality through objective progress assessments, and promptly resolve difficulties. They committed to thorough reviews to avoid omitting key commitments while preparing content for upcoming high-level diplomatic activities, adhering to the principle of balancing interests, ensuring quality, and prioritizing feasibility.
Addressing the meeting, FM Le Hoai Trung glowingly spoke of the responsibility and coordination demonstrated by participating agencies. He urged ministries and sectors to strictly uphold execution discipline, heighten leadership accountability, and adopt result-based management following the mandate of "clear lead agencies, clear responsibilities, clear timelines, and clear outcomes."
The Foreign Minister affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue refining the joint coordination framework and mechanism. It will leverage its role as the Standing Office of the Central Steering Committee for Foreign Affairs and International Integration, alongside the network of Vietnamese representative missions abroad, to support ministries, sectors, and localities in effectively advancing international commitments.
The meeting reaffirmed consensus and determination among participating bodies to enhance implementation efficacy, thereby contributing to mobilizing external resources for fast and sustainable national development while elevating Vietnam’s international standing and prestige.
