Vietnam attaches importance to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with France
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed the strategic importance of Vietnam’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with France, calling for deeper cooperation in science and technology, innovation and high-quality human resources at his reception for French Ambassador Olivier Brochet.
Receiving the outgoing Ambassador in Hanoi on August 27, the Prime Minister spoke highly of the diplomat’s positive contributions to Vietnam-France relations, particularly during the period when the two countries elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in October 2024 and stepped up high-level exchanges.
Describing France as one of Vietnam’s key partners in Europe, he said bilateral relations have developed positively across a wide range of areas, with political trust being strengthened and economic, trade and investment cooperation growing considerably.
Science and technology and innovation are also emerging as important areas of cooperation between the two countries.
Building on the progress achieved in recent years, Vietnam wants to further deepen cooperation with France in areas with strong potential, particularly science and technology, innovation and high-quality human resources, he told his guest.
At the same time, the two sides are expected to continue strengthening traditional areas of cooperation, including healthcare, education and training, culture and heritage preservation.
The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation for France’s continued contribution to Vietnam’s development and for Brochet’s role in strengthening bilateral ties during his tenure.
For his part, Ambassador Olivier Brochet affirmed that France places importance on Vietnam’s growing role and position in the region and on the international stage.
France wants to continue contributing to the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through concrete cooperation programmes and projects.
The Ambassador highlighted potential for further cooperation in the economy, infrastructure, aerospace, nuclear energy, education and training, and culture. He also expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Vietnamese Government, ministries, agencies and localities during his tenure and said that he would continue contributing to friendship and cooperation between the two countries in whatever position he holds in the future.
Vietnam and France established diplomatic relations in 1973 and have since built a broad foundation of cooperation across numerous fields.
The elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024 opened additional room for the two countries to expand cooperation into new areas while strengthening existing partnerships.
