The lists of candidates have been posted at polling stations in the province. All the candidates were arranged to meet local voters and present their action plans before May 16.
Voters say they expect the elected candidates of the 13th National Assembly will make positive changes in people’s daily lives by creating jobs and seeking new markets for agricultural products.
*** Together with voters in the island district of Truong Sa in Khanh Hoa province, more than 8,000 voters in four communes in the border district of Muong Te in Lai Chau province cast their votes on May 15 for the 13th National Assembly (NA) and People’s Council elections for the 2011-2016 term.
The four communes in Muong Te joining the early election were Muong Mo, Ka Lang, Ta Tong and Mu Ca. They were allowed to vote ahead of the scheduled voting on May 22 because they are located in remote areas prone to natural disasters such as flashfloods and landslides.
By the afternoon of May 14, voters in all the four communes had been provided with all the necessary information on the election agenda, principles and regulations as well as the rights and obligations of voters going to the polls.
These communes belong to electoral constituencies No 12 and 13, which have 45 polling stations and more than 8,000 voters.
According to Chairman of the Muong Te district People’s Committee, Ly Anh Hu, who is also head of the Muong Te district Election Council, security has been intensified for the election. Officials, soldiers and security forces have been sent to all communes and towns in Muong Te district, with a focus on the four communes holding the early elections. The event is expected to be a political festival for the local people.
*** Earlier on May 14, a meeting between candidates and voters was held in Son Thuy commune, Son Tra district, Quang Ngai province.
After the candidates presented their plans of action, local voters said that the 13th NA candidates should pay due attention to improving living conditions for local people, especially ethnic minority groups.
*** Voters in Thanh Hoa province have raised concerns about infrastructure development, particularly rural roads – a key factor in boosting local socioeconomic development.
They suggested the State offer incentives for local people, invest more in rural infrastructure and carry out projects for irrigation networks, transportation, forestry and poverty reduction.
