The Japanese Association of Travel Agents (JATA) has included Vietnam in the list of 13 nations and territories involved in its Visit World Campaign, aimed at encouraging 19 million Japanese to travel abroad by 2009 and 29 million by 2010.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VAT) says from January to October this year, Vietnam welcomed 333,226 Japanese arrivals, 2.5 percent less than in the same period last year. This was due to the fact that most tours were short but expensive, just from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay in the north, or from HCM City to its neighbouring areas and Hoi An city in central Vietnam.
