An agreement to this effect was signed by French Ambassador to Vietnam Herve Bolot and Deputy Minister of Training and Education, Prof Banh Tien Long in Hanoi on November 6.

Under the agreement, half of the fund will be used to modify the bilingual teaching programme, equip all bilingual classes with specialised devices and organise refresher courses for all primary teachers in the third week of November.

The remainder will be spent on buying audiovisual equipment, books and teaching documents for French-Vietnamese bilingual classes nationwide.

The bilingual classes have opened in Vietnam since 1994. So far, more than 5,000 pupils have graduated from senior schools with French language certificates.
