VIFC-HCMC secures US$20 billion in investment commitments
VOV.VN - After six months of operation, the Vietnam International Financial Centre in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC-HCMC) has attracted around US$20 billion in investment commitments, as it moves to build new market infrastructure and improve access to international capital.
The figure was announced at a conference on investment promotion for VIFC-HCMC on August 11, jointly organised by the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of Ho Chi Minh City (ITPC), the VIFC-HCMC Executive Agency, and CBRE Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Pham Quang Nhat, director of ITPC, emphasised that Ho Chi Minh City is entering a new phase of development that requires a higher-quality and more efficient growth model.
The city's target of achieving double-digit economic growth requires a major restructuring of its growth drivers, including strengthening its capacity to mobilise, channel and allocate capital, developing new markets, and connecting domestic resources more effectively with international capital flows, he said.
Investment promotion in the financial sector should go beyond introducing project portfolios and focus on building an ecosystem that connects capital flows, Nhat said.
Under such an approach, investors, financial institutions, businesses, regulators and priority projects would be proactively and professionally connected to generate tangible results, he added.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Huan, vice chairman of the VIFC-HCMC Executive Agency, highlighted Vietnam’s growing demand for long-term capital to finance infrastructure, urban development, energy, and the green and digital transitions.
VIFC-HCMC aims to facilitate the flow of international capital into Vietnam at competitive costs, supported by a diverse range of financial products and a reliable investment environment, he said.
According to Huan, VIFC-HCMC benefits from special mechanisms and policies under Resolution 222 adopted by the National Assembly in 2025, and eight Government decrees, as well as competitive operating costs and access to a high-quality workforce.
The centre is also expected to develop financial products linked to Ho Chi Minh City's strengths, including maritime finance.
These advantages are intended to help VIFC-HCMC strengthen its role as a platform connecting international investors with investment and financing opportunities in Vietnam.
During the discussion, speakers focused on policies governing capital flows, dispute resolution mechanisms, and the incentives available to investors that become members of VIFC-HCMC.
