VOV.VN - Vietnamese businesses are showcasing halal-certified agricultural, seafood and processed food products at Thailand's largest international halal trade fair, as the country steps up efforts to expand its presence in the global halal market.

The Grand Halal Bangkok 2026 exhibition opened on July 15 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), drawing hundreds of international brands in sectors ranging from food, cosmetics and fashion to AI-powered product traceability solutions.

The event running the theme "Gateway to the Global Halal Economy", provides countries across the region, including Vietnam, with an opportunity to strengthen their presence in the global halal economy.

Surin Palare, Secretary-General of the Central Islamic Council of Thailand (CICOT), said Thailand had risen to fourth place globally in halal exports, valued at about 300 billion baht (US$9 billion).

With the global halal consumer market estimated at around 2 billion people, Thailand is set to become the world's leading exporter of halal products within the next five years, he emphasized.

As part of its efforts to develop the sector, the Vietnam Trade Office in Thailand organised a national pavilion to promote internationally certified halal agricultural, seafood and processed food products. The initiative also supports the implementation of Decree 127, recently issued by the Vietnamese government in a bid to incentivize businesses to invest more systematically in the halal industry.

Speaking at the Vietnamese pavilion, Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung noted that the government had adopted a strategy to develop the halal food industry, highlighting it as a sector with significant growth potential and a vast global market. Vietnamese companies' participation in the exhibition showed their determination to implement that strategy, he added.

According to Le Huu Phuc, Vietnam's trade counsellor in Thailand,  the exhibition offered policymakers and businesses a valuable opportunity to learn about halal technical and safety standards as well as future industry development models. He expressed his confidence that Vietnam will earn a place in the global halal supply chain.

Vietnamese companies also used the exhibition to demonstrate the quality of their products. Bui Thi Thu Ngan, a representative of DannyGreen Organic Agriculture Company, said Vietnam's competitive advantage lay in its supply of fresh raw materials, while the company's halal production process includes certified inspection of all input materials.

Vietnam's participation in Grand Halal Bangkok 2026 also creates opportunities for direct business-to-business (B2B) meetings with distributors from the Gulf region and reflects its ambition to become a trusted partner in the global halal supply chain.
