Seven-month pepper exports cross US$1 billion mark
VOV.VN - Vietnam exported 168,429 tonnes of pepper worth US$1.087 billion during the seven month period of 2026, up 16.1% in volume and 10.1% in value year-on-year, according to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA).
This growth came on the back of improved demand in key markets, including the US, China, and the Netherlands.
In the domestic market on August 6, pepper prices hovered between VND138,000 and 141,000 per kilogramme across major growing areas in the Central Highlands and the Southeast.
On the global market, the International Pepper Community (IPC) reported generally stable prices on the same day compared to the previous day.
Specifically, Indonesian Lampung black pepper went up 0.31% to US$6,813 per tonne, while Muntok white pepper rose 0.30% to US$9,328 per tonne. Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper climbed 3.51% to US$5,900 per tonne. Meanwhile, Malaysian pepper prices remained unchanged.
Vietnamese export pepper prices were unchanged, with black pepper quoted between US$5,970 and US$6,050 per tonne, while white pepper rose 0.60% to US$8,400 per tonne.
