VOV.VN - René van Vlerken, CEO of Euronext Amsterdam, expressed readiness to support Vietnam in enhancing technical capacities, modernizing trading systems, and deepening integration with the international financial market during a working session with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang on July 31.

During his working session with Euronext, the world's oldest stock exchange, leaders of the exchange invited Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang to ring the opening bell, showing the high regard Dutch partners hold for the Vietnamese delegation and bilateral relations.

In exchanges with Euronext management, Thang expressed admiration for the 400-year history of the Amsterdam stock market. Sharing Vietnam's development orientation for the new phase, the Deputy PM emphasized that the Government is determined to maintain double-digit economic growth during the 2026–2030 period through institutional reforms, strategic infrastructure development, science and technology promotion, innovation, green transition, and human resource enhancement.

Amid large demands for medium- and long-term capital mobilization, Vietnam is strongly developing its capital market, establishing international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, and upgrading the quality of its stock market.

The Deputy PM urged Euronext to assist Vietnam in developing its stock market and attracting capital from major European and global investors.

He also called on Dutch partners to help Vietnam enhance operational capacities in financial and securities markets, particularly regarding trading infrastructure, clearing and settlement systems, and share expertise in applying artificial intelligence and technological solutions for market management and supervision.

Both sides agreed to explore the potential for developing new financial products and promoting cross-listing between markets to strengthen connections between Vietnamese enterprises and investors with the European financial ecosystem.

In response, René van Vlerken, CEO of Euronext Amsterdam, shared experience in building and operating modern trading platforms, developing new products, and capital market infrastructure governance.

Later, during a working session with the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), Thang underscored the imperative to upgrade financial management and supervisory capacities to international standards as Vietnam develops its capital market, advances digital and green transitions, and builds international financial centers.

He asked AFM to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese agencies in information exchange, personnel capacity building, and sharing management experience in emerging fields such as crypto assets, tokenized securities, green and sustainable finance, and artificial intelligence applications in finance.

AFM leaders shared Dutch regulatory and supervisory experiences, emphasizing core principles such as ensuring transparency, protecting investors, and maintaining market integrity and resilience.

AFM noted that amidst a rapidly changing financial environment, regulators must establish stable, predictable policy frameworks, ramp up international cooperation, and apply flexible, risk-based supervisory methods to adapt to new trends like artificial intelligence, digitization, and the deeper integration of capital markets.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang met with Olaf Gelhausen, Global Chief Operating Officer, and the leadership of APM Terminals at the Port of Rotterdam.

Thang lauded APM Terminals' active footprint in Vietnam through large-scale port development projects, including the Hateco Haiphong International Container Terminal (HHIT) in the Lach Huyen port area and the Lien Chieu Container Terminal project in Da Nang invested by the Hateco-APM Terminals consortium.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that these projects expand Vietnam's maritime capacity while introducing international standards in governance, operations, automation, and sustainable development. He noted that Vietnam projects significant capital demand for port infrastructure during the 2026-2030 period, aiming to raise cargo throughput capacity to roughly 1.4 to 1.6 billion tons per year by 2030 while developing green, smart logistics ecosystems.

Olaf Gelhausen highlighted Vietnam as a premier market for the group in Southeast Asia and expressed pride in accompanying Vietnam's development through modern port infrastructure and enhanced supply chain connectivity.

APM Terminals expressed a desire to expand investment cooperation in multi-modal logistics infrastructure and railway connections to seaports.

These working sessions have reinforced the foundation of financial and logistical cooperation between Vietnam and the Netherlands, opening plenty of opportunities for experience-sharing, market connectivity, and innovative initiatives that actively contribute to the Vietnam-Netherlands Comprehensive Partnership.
