Khanh Hoa to host Asia's green, smart cage aquaculture symposium
VOV.VN - Khanh Hoa province in south-central Vietnam will host the 8th International Symposium on Cage Aquaculture in Asia (CAA8) at Nha Trang University from July 15 to 18, 2026, under the theme "Green and Smart Development of Cage Aquaculture in Asia."
The symposium is jointly organized by the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS), Nha Trang University, Shanghai Ocean University and the China-ASEAN Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Mariculture Technology, in cooperation with Ocean University of China and the Centre for Ecological Aquaculture.
The event is expected to bring together scientists, industry representatives, policymakers and delegates from international organizations, universities and research institutes across the region to review the state of cage aquaculture in Asia, discuss key challenges and share solutions for its sustainable development.
The agenda will cover core technical topics, including offshore farming systems, selective breeding, nutrition and biosecurity, alongside emerging areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), carbon neutrality, value chain governance and climate adaptation.
The symposium comes as marine and offshore cage aquaculture plays an increasingly important role in safeguarding seafood supplies, while Vietnam is promoting its marine economy and high-tech aquaculture. With nearly 500 kilometers of coastline, sheltered bays, islands, deep-water ports and international air links, Khanh Hoa is among the country’s leading localities for the development of the sector.
Hosting CAA8 also highlights Vietnam's expanding international cooperation in marine aquaculture as countries across Asia promote the adoption of new technologies and pursue more sustainable fisheries development.
