Japan's Gunma Prefecture aspires to boost economic cooperation with Vietnam
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan hosted the seminar "Vietnam-Gunma Economic Cooperation: Promoting Public-Private Partnerships in Digital Transformation" in Tokyo on July 23, as part of efforts to enhance practical economic diplomacy and assist locality-to-locality connectivity.
The event gathered roughly 100 delegates representing the government and business sector of Gunma Prefecture, the Vietnam Digital Transformation Association in Japan, the Vietnamese Business Association in Japan, and press agencies from both nations.
The practical economic diplomacy activity contributes to the implementation of Resolution No. 57 on breakthrough development in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, and Resolution No. 10 on foreign-invested economic development.
Through the participation of Gunma Prefecture's government, business support organizations, educational institutions, and the business communities of both countries, the seminar helps enhance public-private partnership models in digital transformation, strengthen linkages among the state, enterprises, and educational institutions to promote innovation, high-quality human resource development, technology transfer, and high-quality investment projects.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu highlighted directions for cooperation in the new era, stating that both Vietnam and Japan identify digital transformation, innovation, science, and technology as drivers and pillars for entering a new development stage. As a result, the demand for bilateral cooperation is tremendous, unlocking vast opportunities between Vietnam and Gunma across key areas, including digital workforce, implementation capacity, and deep technology cooperation.
For their part, representatives of Gunma Prefecture's government and enterprises greatly appreciated the potential for cooperation with Vietnam, expressing a desire for new progress in the future.
Governor of Gunma Prefecture Yamamoto Ichita emphasized concrete results achieved and expressed determination to deepen cooperation with Vietnam: "Gunma enterprises have decided on an investment of JPY 10 billion in Vietnam; conversely, Vietnamese enterprises, including FPT, have also decided to invest in Gunma. These are good results, and Gunma always values cooperation with Vietnam. Personally, I will also make efforts to forge relations between the two sides."
The seminar helped the Japanese side capture Vietnam's new policies in a timely manner, strengthened connections between the Embassy and Gunma's government, universities, and the business communities of both countries, creating a long-term cooperation foundation, bolstering bilateral cooperation in key fields, and creating opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises in Japan to cooperate and directly expand business with Gunma's enterprise network.
On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed among the Gunma Industry Support Organization, FPT University, and FPT Japan Holdings.
