Dak Lak connects Vietnam-China durian supply chain to bolster exports
VOV.VN - The Dak Lak Durian Association hosted a trade connection forum on August 19 to beef up comprehensive cooperation with Chinese partners across the durian supply chain, spanning raw material zones, purchasing, processing, logistics, and distribution in China.
Dak Lak in Vietnam's Central Highlands, currently holds over 44,000 hectares of durian, with 2026 output projected at approximately 500,000 metric tons. While this large scale opens up substantial export potential, it also requires reorganizing production, tightening quality control, and building a supply chain that meets market standards.
At the event, the association presented the potential of its raw material areas and its comprehensive ecosystem covering sourcing, packaging, export, processing, logistics, and traceability, while discussing production strategies aligned with market demand.
According to Chinese importers, market demand centers primarily on fresh durian, followed by frozen pulp and processed products, with online sales playing an increasingly vital role. Vietnamese durians hold a distinct seasonal advantage, particularly in Dak Lak, where the main harvest runs from August to October.
Tao Zhongyong, representing a Chinese agricultural import-export enterprise, noted that intensifying competition from other producing nations requires Vietnam to elevate quality and fully comply with export standards.
He expressed hope that Vietnamese farmers will further improve quality control to produce top-standard durians, while the Vietnamese government provides active support to help trade firms, logistics companies, and packaging facilities clear customs rapidly to deliver the freshest fruit to China.
The Dak Lak Durian Association expects Chinese enterprises to move beyond seasonal procurement to become long-term value-chain development partners, expanding cooperation in trade, deep processing, preservation technology, logistics, digital transformation, and e-commerce.
Le Anh Trung, Chairman of the Dak Lak Durian Association, stated that the event offers a key opportunity for businesses from both countries to better understand quality requirements, production processes, consumer culture, and partnership methods, thereby forging stable, long-term, and sustainable commercial ties.
