Da Nang steps up investment and trade promotion with Chilean partners
VOV.VN - Da Nang officials have affirmed the central city’s greater efforts to explore new markets, attract potential partners and strengthen investment and trade promotion with Chilean partners.
A ceremony marking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Chile (1971–2026) was jointly held in the central city of Da Nang on July 14 by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations and the Embassy of Chile in Vietnam.
The Chilean delegation included Ambassador Nasly Isabel Bernal Prado and representatives of Chile's Trade Promotion Bureau, while the Vietnamese side was represented by officials from the Da Nang administration and the central and Central Highlands branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Chile was among the first South American countries to establish official diplomatic relations with Vietnam on March 25, 1971.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee, described the anniversary as an important diplomatic milestone in bilateral relations.
She said Chile is currently Vietnam's fourth-largest trading partner in Latin America, while Vietnam is Chile's leading ASEAN trading partner.
The two countries still have considerable room to expand cooperation, particularly in the fields of the green economy, digital transformation, clean and renewable energy, mining, innovation, trade, investment, logistics, high-tech agriculture and food production, engineering, and cultural exchanges, she emphasized.
Thi expressed hope that the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Chile, as well as between Da Nang and Chilean localities, will continue to grow.
She called on the central and Central Highlands branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with the city's departments and agencies, to proactively explore new markets, attract potential partners and strengthen investment and trade promotion between Da Nang and Chilean partners.
She also urged them to expand sister-city partnerships, diversify external relations and people-to-people exchanges, and deepen cooperation with Chile in priority sectors in line with with Da Nang's development needs.
"The enduring friendship and mutual trust between our two countries, together with the strong potential for cooperation based on each side's comparative strengths, will provide a solid foundation for Vietnam and Chile in general, and Da Nang and Chilean localities in particular, to continue advancing for the benefit of our two peoples," Thi added.
Ambassador Nasly Isabel Bernal Prado showed confident that Chile and Vietnam will continue deepening ties in ways that not only benefit both countries but also bring Latin America and Southeast Asia closer together.
She said friendship between both nations’ people will continue to enhance in the years ahead, providing a foundation for future generations to build an even closer, more dynamic and more effective partnership between Chile and Vietnam.
The anniversary celebration also featured a photo exhibition highlighting 55 years of Vietnam-Chile diplomatic relations, showcasing historical photographs and documents dating back to the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1971.
The exhibition traced the development of bilateral ties through high-level visits, strategic economic and trade cooperation projects, and cultural, artistic and people-to-people exchanges. It also displayed signature products and tourism potential from both countries.
