Canada reviews anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese upholstered seating
VOV.VN - The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has launched an administrative review of anti-dumping and countervailing duties on upholstered seating from Vietnam, a process that will determine updated duty rates for future shipments.
According to the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam (TRAV) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the review covers upholstered domestic seating (UDS) originating in or exported from Vietnam and China and imported into Canada from the United States through Wayfair LLC under case UDS 2026 UP2.
In addition to Wayfair LLC, the review also covers affiliated companies, manufacturers and unrelated trading firms involved in producing or supplying UDS products exported to Canada through the company.
Under CBSA procedures, Wayfair LLC will be instructed to forward the dumping and subsidy Requests for Information (RFIs) to all relevant parties.
The CBSA said information collected during the review will serve as the basis for determining and updating anti-dumping and countervailing duty rates applicable to future shipments under Canada’s Special Import Measures Act (SIMA).
If companies subject to the anti-dumping and countervailing duty review, or governments involved in countervailing duty reviews, fail to provide sufficient information or do not cooperate during the investigation, the CBSA may apply duty rates based on available information.
In such cases, anti-dumping duties could reach 179.5% of the export price, while countervailing duties could be set at approximately VND1.91 million per unit.
To safeguard the legitimate interests of Vietnamese manufacturers and exporters, the TRAV has urged affected manufacturers and exporters to familiarise themselves with Canadian regulations, prepare complete documentation, provide accurate responses and cooperate fully with the CBSA throughout the review process.
