During the meeting, which was part of the election campaign, Mr Trong, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Party Commission, and four other candidates presented their action plans, affirming that they would try their best to protect people’s legitimate rights and benefits.
The candidates vowed to tighten their relationship with people and contribute more to renovating and increasing the role, quality and effectiveness of NA activities in a more practical and democratic manner.
Voters voiced their concerns over issues related to land use, environmental protection, jobs for young workers, social welfare, gender equality, and preventing and controlling corruption.
Mr Trong stressed that candidates must improve their capacity and morals and set a good example by following the laws and policies of the Party and State.
*** The same day, Tong Thi Phong, Politburo member and NA Vice Chairwoman, together with candidates for the 13th NA and the Dak Lak provincial People’s Council in the 2011-2016 term, met voters in Thong Nhat and Thanh Nhat communes in the Central Highland city of Buon Ma Thuot.
The candidates affirmed that they would actively take part in the law making and perform their designed tasks efficiently.
They presented their action plans for implementing Party resolutions and State policies to consolidate the political system, generate jobs for young ethnic minority people, control market prices, improve healthcare services and develop culture and education.
The candidates and voters also discussed the zoning plan for Buon Ma Thuot city, environmental sanitation and incentive policies for social policy beneficiaries.
*** In the northwestern province of Son La, candidates for the 13th NA and the Son La provincial People’s Council in the 2011-2016 term held a meeting with local people on May 9.
Voters expressed their trust in the candidates and hoped that they will do their utmost to implement their action plans properly.
They also called for more investment for upgrading infrastructure in remote areas, especially rural roads and electricity networks.
