VOV.VN - Singer Toc Tien has been announced as Vietnam’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 which is set to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 14.

The information was unveiled by DAO Music Entertainment at the launching ceremony of The Sound of Vietnam programme held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 16.

Toc Tien admitted feeling pressure following the announcement, as she prepares to win over both domestic and international audiences.

In The Sound of Vietnam programme slated for October 3, the female singer will perform five songs at the National Selection Show to be broadcast on Vietnam Television. The show will select the song that will represent Vietnam alongside the signer on the international stage.

The result is expected to be determined by a 50-50 split between scores from the professional panel/judges and public voting. The professional panel will assess the entries based on musical quality, performance ability, identity and competitiveness, while the public vote will reflect audience engagement and their direct choice.

“I have always loved taking on new challenges. After many competitions and experiences in the past, I think The Sound of Vietnam could be one of the biggest challenges I have wanted to experience. I also feel a certain amount of pressure because I understand the responsibility of representing a country and stepping onto an international music stage,” the singer said.

The singer expressed her hope that her performance would first win the approval and pride of Vietnamese audiences before she seeks recognition internationally.

“I hope Vietnamese audiences will be proud of my performance before I go international.”

The final night of the Eurovision Song Contest Asia will take place on November 14 in Bangkok. Under the rules of the international round, viewers cannot vote for the representative of their own country. Toc Tien will therefore have to win over audiences from other participating countries at the competition.

Eurovision Song Contest Asia is a new multinational music competition being held in Asia for the first time, developed around the format and spirit of the Eurovision Song Contest, Europe’s renowned music competition. Thailand has been selected to play host to the contest for the first time.

Representatives from 11 countries have so far registered to take part in the show, including those from Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Mongolia.
